Sunday morning 5/25

Yesterday Michelle, Nessa, and I went to Brownville, NE for the flea market. Per usual my goals were yummy food, coffee, wine, and PLANTS! Well we mostly hit the mark - I got my glass of wine, a delicious strawberry lemonade, and I found some very sad looking flowers that I knew looked familiar but couldn’t quite place them. The lady said ‘gilly plant’ but sounded unsure and I was skeptical as well. I looked it up in the car and they are in fact gilly aka stock! Stock I know! So I’ve got them hydrating in the greenhouse now and they looked dramatically better this morning.

When we got home we decided to plant some peppers but didn’t get far because the drill died. So we planted two Ozark Bells, then I planted some Rosemary and Allysum in with our Marsh Mallow plant.

I didn’t remember the Marsh Mellow being perennial or even what we planted but fortunately Michelle remembered!

Satisfied with getting a few things planted we started weeding and just enjoying the space and discovered we have some cauliflower and broccoli producing!

We are so excited because last year was such a bust for our brassicas. The cool weather has been helping the cool season crops for sure.

We indulged in our first strawberry harvest as well! Michelle picked two with several more on the way!

Delicious!

Then we made our way to the high tunnel and picked another ranunculus and went ahead and harvested our broccoli head.

Saturday was an unexpected gorgeous day. We expected cloudy and cool all day as it has been the pattern but while we were in brownville it was downright warm!

Saturdays high was 75 and low 55.

It was raining on the farm this morning and it looks like it’s going to atleast be cloudy all day so probably won’t be doing any planting today, but maybe some weeding and cleaning up in the high tunnel.

Todays high is 68 and the low 55 again.
